Vienne, Autriche. Une nuit, un professeur de violon esseulé et calamiteux du nom d'Arthur Kremer est le témoin involontaire d'un meurtre. Fuyant les lieux du crime, il oublie son imperméable, laissant ainsi aux mains des malfrats une piste pour le retrouver. Les Muller, couple gras et vulgaire, font du trafic d'armes sous le couvert d'une usine de poupées. Ce sont eux qui ont trucidé un homme qui les a trahis. Pour empêcher Kremer de parler, ils lui dépêchent leur blonde et aguicheuse fille Nina. Or malgré leurs dissemblances, Arthur va être subjugué par Nina, qui elle-même ne restera pas insensible au violoniste.
