Manželia Ray a Maggie prišli o dieťa a snažia sa začať odznova. Kúpia motel v púšti, no čoskoro zistia, že sa v ňom deje niečo podivné. To, čo sa najskôr zdalo ako únik pred realitou, sa zmení na napínavý výlet do mysteriózneho sveta plného tajomstiev. Ray totiž objaví obojstranné zrkadlo a stane sa svedkom desivého činu. Nasleduje zvrátená hra na mačku a myš. Ray musí pretekať s časom, aby zachránil svoju manželku aj seba, nielen pred príšerným tajomstvom, s ktorým je motel spojený, ale aj pred podivnými ľuďmi, ktorí ho navštevujú.
