Chiaotzu császár felesége eltünt, Mester Shen azt javasolja a császárnak, hogy gyüjtse össze a hét sárkánygömböt és az egy kivánsággal vissza hozhatja a feleségét. Goku és Krillin beneveznek a nagy harcművészeti tornára aminek a házigazdája Chiatzu császár. Bora és fia Upa megpróbálják elrejteni a saját sárkánygömbjüket a császár katonái elöl, hogy ne kaparintsa meg a gonosz Shen mester. A sárkánygömbök keresésébe belekezd emelett Bulma is akinek a segítségére lesz Yamcha, Puar és Qolong.
