Kaum ein Ort in Südkorea wird mehr gefürchtet als die psychiatrische Anstalt Gonjiam, in der sich in den 1970ern massenhaft Patienten das Leben nahmen. Aber vielleicht starben sie auch nicht freiwillig, so wird gemunkelt, die Leitung soll Gerüchten zufolge eigentlich dahinterstecken. Eines ist jedoch klar: Kein normaler Mensch würde freiwillig einen Fuß in das inzwischen leerstehende Gebäude setzen. Nun ist Ha-Joon (Ha-Joon Wi) aber kein normaler Mensch, sondern Leiter eines überaus erfolgreichen YouTube-Channels namens „Horror Stories“, der eben solchen Phänomen auf der Spur ist. Also versammelt er ein Team aus Freiwilligen, das mit Kameras bewaffnet dort mal nach dem Rechten schauen soll und bald mehr zu sehen bekommt, als ihm lieb ist …
