Sangraal, Sohn von König Ator, überlebt einen Angriff auf sein Volk, weil er von seinem Kindermädchen versteckt wird. Jahre später schickt sich der zum schmucken Mannsbild herangewachsene Jüngling an, sein Volk in eine bessere Gegend zu führen. Nachdem er die Tochter des Dorfobersten gerettet hat, werden Sangraal und seine Gefolgschaft dort willkommen geheißen - bis der örtliche König von der Feuergöttin Rani die Anweisung erhält, Sangraal und sein Volk auszurotten. Bei dem Angriff kommt auch Sangraals Frau Leni ums Leben, woraufhin es sich Sangraal zur Aufgabe macht, sie wieder ins Leben zurückzuholen.
